Nut Free Chocolate Bliss Bites

These Nut Free Chocolate Bliss Bites will be a lunchbox hit. Made from cacao, oats, seeds, dates and sultanas they are a fun snack for school lunches or perfect to grab and go.

One of my favourite lunchbox snacks are bliss balls. Because they are super easy to make and come together in no time at all. All you need to do is chuck everything in a food processor and press start!

Bliss balls also freeze really well. I like to make a couple of batches over the weekend and then take out as needed for a delicious treat in the lunchbox. And these Chocolate Bliss Bites hit the mark. They are nut free and have no added sugar so just perfect for school lunches.

I have a few chocolate based bliss balls developed that you are loving like these delicious Chocolate Rum Raisin Bliss Balls and these Chocolate Orange Almond Bliss Balls. But you have been asking for more nut free bliss balls for kid’s lunchboxes. And I am happy to oblige with these Nut Free Chocolate Bliss Bites.

You Will Need

  • Medjool dates
  • Rolled oats
  • Sultanas
  • Cacao
  • Pepitas
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Vanilla Extract

To make the Nut Free Chocolate Bliss Bites

In a food processor with the S blade attachment add in all of your ingredients.

Process the nut free chocolate bliss ball mixture until well combined. This should take a minute or two but is dependant on your food processor. Then take tablespoon size portions of the mixture and roll in your hands to make a ball. Repeat until all the mixture has been used. The balls will be soft but firm.

Substitutions

If you don’t have the pepitas and sunflower seeds you can use the equivalent amount of rolled oats

Medjool dates have a caramel like flavour and are softer and more moist than other dates which is why I love using them in these chocolate bliss balls. You could use other dates however you may wish to soak these in hot water for 5 minutes then drain before using to soften them. You may also want to use a few more dates as Medjool dates are typically larger.

If you don’t have sultanas you can use raisins or more dates.

Can you advise how long these stay fresh for if not frozen

  2. Such a great and easy recipe and also fun for kids of all ages to get involved in the kitchen. My kids love bliss balls but two of them are not keen on coconut so this recipe is perfect. I always make a double batch as quite a few don’t make it to the freezer!

  3. These were delicious and the perfect healthy snack! Will definitely be making again!!

Made these with my 6 year old daughter for a healthy treat for school. Wasn’t sure they would be a hit as quite healthy but they got a massive thumbs up! Was planning on freezing them but we’ll have to make another batch as they are nearly all gone already.

  5. Yep, another winner Bernadette! Have got two batches (minus all the taste tests) in the freezer ready for next week… hopefully they’ll last til then 😉 Thank you!!

Thanks so much for sharing this nut free recipe just in time for school lunches this week 🙂

I made these this afternoon and my children plus hubby gave them the thumbs up !

  7. Absolutely fantastic recipe! Like all of them, they are easy, nutritious and delicious! I will just have to do them all one by one! Apple bliss was a great hit! Thank you!

    • I am so glad you love them – thanks so much for making them! Bernadette x

    • Winning recipe! I wasn’t sure it was going to come together as it appeared very dry after the first blitz in my thermomix- but sure enough they turned out great! Love how versatile this recipe is, I might swap out the pepitas and sunflower seeds for linseeds, chia, and hemp next time.

      • Thanks for making them Rachel! These ones do take a little longer to pull together and I find the size, variety and freshness of the dates really impact the recipe. I would suggest if swapping with the linseeds and chia you may need more dates or some coconut oil to achieve the same consistency. Bernadette x
