Mocha Bliss Balls: The Perfect Coffee Lover’s Snack

This recipe for Mocha Bliss Balls has been proudly sponsored and inspired by the Bamboo Monkey Reusable Coffee Cups, an environmentally friendly biodegradable reusable coffee cup. All contents and opinions are my own.

If I had to choose between giving up coffee or chocolate I just don’t think I could tell you. I have at least one coffee a day and would you judge me if I told you I would generally have a little chocolate most days too? In my defence a lot of the time the chocolate is in a delicious bliss ball. Zero guilt factor there. But as much as I love coffee and chocolate separately they are also A-MAZING together. And these Mocha Bliss Balls are proof of that.

These Mocha Bliss Balls would make a perfect homemade gift for a coffee lover. You could make these Mocha Bliss Balls and pop them in a Bamboo Monkey Reusable Coffee Cup for a delightful and thoughtful present. Also family…now you know what you are getting for birthdays this year so pretend you didn’t read this.

If you drink as much coffee as I do, you really need to invest in a good reusable coffee cup. You can save the planet and still enjoy your morning brew. I love that the Bamboo Monkey Reusable Coffee Cups are compostable. Yup, you read that right. Because they are made of bamboo they are biodegradable so when they have reached their lifespan you can bury them in your garden.

The coffee cups themselves are a great size. They are perfect for regular or large sized coffees (or LOTS of mocha bliss balls) and they’re dishwasher safe too.

I love how quick and easy bliss balls are to make. Chuck all the ingredients in a food processor and you’re pretty much done. Bliss balls also freeze really well too so you can always make a batch of these Mocha Bliss Balls and freeze and take out as you need (or want) them.

I rolled the Mocha Bliss Balls in coffee grounds to intensify the coffee flavour but you don’t need to if you’d rather a milder coffee taste. You don’t need to roll them in anything or you could roll in cacao. Also, if you don’t have a coffee machine you could always use quality instant coffee or coffee essence but I have not tested these variations.

Description

These Mocha Bliss Balls are just perfect for coffee lovers. Dairy free and made with no added sugar they are simply delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 50g hazelnuts roasted
  • 3/4 cup oats
  • 8 medjool dates
  • 1/4 cup cacao
  • 2 tbsp espresso
  • 1 tsp freshly ground coffee (plus extra for rolling – optional)

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients into a food processor with the s-blade attachment.
  2. Process on high for around three minutes or until well combined and the ingredients are chopped quite finely.
  3. Scoop a tablespoon of the mixture and roll to make a ball in between your hands. Roll the ball lightly in the coffee grounds (if using). Repeat until all the mixture has been used.
  4. Store the bliss bites in the fridge in an airtight container.

Notes

While I love these Mocha Bliss Balls lightly rolled in fresh coffee grounds to intensify the coffee flavour you don’t need to if you’d rather a milder coffee taste. I would recommend rolling one without and then one with  and check which is your preference.

I hope you love these Mocha Bliss Balls. Be sure to check out Bamboo Monkey and their reusable coffee cups and if you make these I would love for you to share a picture with me on Instagram or Facebook.

Happy snacking,
Bernadette x
